Audio Recording Tips!

!±8± Audio Recording Tips!

Hello my name is Johnny C! I started recording about 9 years ago and is one of the greatest trip of my life. I took only about 40 people and for NPR and a few other programs also covered. I wish I'd written all the people on the street! And 'crazy how time flies! Read on my advice and you will save a lot of problems. I moved about 4 years and many of the appropriate equipment.

It all started in 1999 when I started to investmy ex-tra cash records. I started with a friend's computer in the days when you had to go into the BIOS and optimize your PC for recording. I studied a lot of my time, how to build the perfect car registration. After a few artists that I decided to have some money in a more rapid decline of the car and spotted.
So I drove to Atlanta and found a really cool computer store. I have an Asus motherboard with 512 tech-Kingston and 1.74 P4. Remember, this was about 6Years, and this is a slow computer now. Let me tell you. I've been nothing but pleased with the performance of the Asus machine!

For the most part, I never had any problems until one day in the middle of a closed meeting. Come to find you, I smoked and had the power to actualize it. So I went out he smoked 250, for a constant power of 500 watts of power. I'll tell you what, run like a dream from 25 artists, with 4 full CD.

For many years I have come acrossMy friend Josh Pres Gadget Lab with Windows 98 and had to optimize them. I loved the original characteristics and it looked great! But it took a few years after the gadget Labs XP came out and had no driver. I heard that someone has posted the drivers for XP. I'm sure that will be used for many years to com. So I had to make a new sound card and decided to have a Tascam 1804

I was a bit 'hesitant to do about the size of 1804 and things do not always care for her. I went out and bought XPand installed it. Then I loaded the drivers for the Tascam changed some settings you open Cubase and hit! Oh yeah I forgot to say that the Tascam is a FireWire device. Then I decided to move from 8 to 16 pres. So I ordered the 8 and Focusrite have them connected via optical. The Tascam is the most important card of the focus up to the Tascam ADAT channels 9-16 on the set. I took several full bands, and there must be a flagship DAW.

A few years ago I read an articleOn the recording of Ray Charles with the sonar. Now I had to check it out! So I grabbed a copy of Sonar 7 and I were absolutely delighted with the features and workflow. Verbs and the effects were much more adjustable Cubase. Then I noticed that Cubase is much faster and easier for the prosecution of so I went back to it. Then I decided to change the way we play.

I ordered a Mac Duo 2 GHz, 1000 RAM running Logic Express 7 This is where it is. The days of the windows are finished for me! Well suited for audioI like to do the recording of the book Mac a lot. You can really trigger some weird effects and loops have been some really groovy. This is a win-win.
I'm going to upgrade my ram and put windows here for a web work, thought that maybe one day. Actually I only need about 10 minutes to set up the project folder and then the cycle time and the right.

Once I do a fresh cycle I cycle out and take note of my tracks on it. Then come back and start andTweaking tracks. It 'a really great program! I'm waiting to get some more Apple Loops', so I could build a beautiful library. In good time.

I mics over the years and have owned a preference for AKG C-2000 and 57 the destruction I felt a re des-20, MXL different "S, Beyer Dynamics (microphones murderess amongst others), AKG C-1000, 58, and Marshall. The microphone on the right depends a lot on the style and intonation and dynamics, what you want to capture. For example, if you have a small voice, thenlike a capacitor, and if you have a loud voice, more aggressive, it could be 57 or 58 or even a larger area used as a membrane 421 mic

Here are some good tips that I put together, which will start in the right way! Remember that registration is a craft, an IT takes many years to perfect your style! It 's time to learn, so be patient! I live mixing for 12 years and had worked for some of the great! I really think you live in the use of technologyStudy vice versa!

1 Be prepared! Pre-production is very powerful in the whole process! I like to put my drum tracks and then try them for a few days! It 'a great way to enhance and develop all the changes!

2 Once you find the sound and the feeling of looking forward, it's time to put some tracks! What I do in Logic! I teach and I will keep first 16 tracks of 8 for drum tracks, and I are 9 and 10 of the arm! I usually put my voice on 9 andsound to 10! Make sure you have set in and out of points! If you are recording many tracks, we want to increase the size of memory used by the program! This is especially useful if you then add the loops and instruments to the mix! If you do not have enough RAM to run a program, then you may crash during the recording!

3 How to find the perfect sound! I love the sound my microphone and go too! And 'where I used to spoil all the time! I always seem strange to my piece Acousticand realized what was the cause! Every time you lose some 'sound and connector are registered! Guess what 'I found that it works great! Use some WD-40 on the fingertips! All I can is that cause corrosion in a break in the connection! Smoking leads to a film-mail!

4 Check the batteries and make sure they are good! Do not use the cheap, do not work really well! I love the Pro-cells for the reliability and forever!

5 Make sure that your powerGround Source! I recommend a battery too! I also want to make sure you have a good enough power on your PC!

6 Always start your PC or Mac before you as each shot. And 'restart the system and reduces the resources needed to have to process all the information. There is always a good idea, not all other programs running while recording. Never, I repeat never run a program to record audio when you are your purposes. I use the wordread the texts and have no problems! It is not a big problem as in the past, but to be. Back in Windows earlier, it was a big problem! Remember, a lot of PC (or Mac) do not like to share audio driver with multiple programs simultaneously.

7 The update is not as important as you think. I ran the same 98 and cubase happily together for 4 years. This is success! I do not always lead they put online, I bought a laptop just for this purpose.

8 FilesHandling. I have found that moved files could give you a headache. I have found out the hard way! Always save your audio folder in the file folder as your project. Always make a folder per new project. That way when you move your files they will all be nice in tidy all in one place. Other wise you may waist a few days of your life trying to figure out where those new audio tracks went, plus it makes you look like a chump.

9. Always!! Save Save Save your song. Be sure before you checking out that new verb plug-in that you save your track. I have had Logic crash while mixing before a save. Logic is a cool back-up feature that will save your butt in this situation. But be aware that if you delete a track, it is gone! I wish they had a step-back feature like a lot of other programs.

10. Mac or Pc? It really depends what you want to do. I love them both and have had great success with each one, using all the tips listed up above. I do think Mac has caught me for now. I do think the learning curve in tougher with a Mac. After you get the hang of it. You will be recording like a Pro Engineer.

11. Keep your levels clean! If you peg into the red you are just square waving the recording. Use a compressor to catch vocal peaks. Always use a pop filter on a vocal! Unless you are using a dynamic or the mic has a built in Pop filter. The Filter will catch the air before it hits the diaphragm. Sometimes causing a popping sound.

12. I like to set my recording at 44 and 24bit. I do dither down to 16 bit for CD. It always sounds great. Find what works for you! It really depends on how much disk space that you want to you use.

13. Monitors? Use what sounds great to you! For a few years I used some decent passive near fields that were hot that year. Gear changes so fast and there really are some great sounding speakers out there. I have used all kinds of monitors! I love headphones, cause you can use them anywhere and have your privacy. I suggest the Sony MDR-7506 they have awesome response and a nice full range. There are a great deal of powered monitors out there and do some research and find out what you need for your purpose! Don't forget that Shielded ones are the way to go!.

Now start you have some great tips to help you get started! Pick out that hit tune and lay it down and start tweaking away. There are many ways to mix and many styles! Go find your own thing! Before you know it you will highly demanded audio engineer.

There are many new site that are popping up all over the web that are making a lot of Banks and people happy. So cash in on the web while it is open and enjoy the liberty that you have. You are the worst person that a Record Company Hates, you know the one; that keeps all the money in his own account! Go for it!
